All charges against a Mendocino County resident suspected of a misdemeanor DUI have been dropped. Last spring, Arturo Valdes suffered facial fractures and was left permanently disfigured following his arrest in front of his home in Ukiah.
Defense attorney, Richard Middlebrook, stated the prosecution fell apart after the arresting officers exercised their Fifth Amendment rights during the preliminary hearing to avoid self-incrimination.
